New York City officials unveiled three new high-tech policing devices Tuesday, including a robotic dog that critics called creepy when it first joined the police pack 2 1/2 years ago. “Digidog is out of the pound,” said Adams, a Democrat and former police officer. “Digidog is now part of the toolkit that we are using.” Adams said the remote-controlled, 70-pound (32-kilogram) Digidog will be deployed in risky situations like hostage standoffs starting this summer.

I tend to agree, although I don’t see the trend ever reversing. Eventually a lot of service jobs will be performed by robots. As more and more people grow up surrounded by the technology, it’ll become normalized. There might even come a time when these things are armed to take down real or perceived “threats”.

No, I’ll have to check it out. Sounds exactly why we shouldn’t go down this road.

Just wait until they get the robotics squared away using advanced AI. That could really get scary.

Haven't they seen the movies to know how this stuff ends up going?

And one of the most worrisome parts of a police dog are the teeth. Does that one have a laser or taser instead of teeth?

Not to worry, these will never be used nefariously.
