We took a couple demo can-ams out today. We had some sun, some serious rain, and some great fall foliage.
yup foliage is coming on hard now we needed rain.. how do you like those can ams? keep looking at them and keep saying I can buy a beater jeep less than that and drive it to the gas station. in my town all farmers drive them on road though
I think we will have a less than stellar year with the spring rains. A lot of maples have the black tar fungus spots on the leaves and turned brown already. It looks good up there.
I had the opportunity to drive the Polaris rzr 900 a few weeks ago, a really nice ride Today's commander, a 1000 was a 4 seater. Too long and too heavy with 2.5" less ground clearance. The can am had better comfort though.
We were in the clouds at one point, then it cleared for a bit. Then - i suspect 1.5" of rain fell in about an hour with wind. The leaves are really beginning to pop, not as good as last year, but still beautiful.
Is that what it is, black tar fungus. It's been hitting the Norway maples hard. They used to be the last maple leaves to fall, a soft yellow. This year they started turning brown and falling in August. Do you know if it kills infected trees?
OK, sound like it's in the "live with it" category. We bought a rope chain saw (manual) to trim some Norway maple branches from a neighbors tree. They overhang the pool, and this year the leaf drop began before the pool was closed.
Looks like fun. We used to take the Jeep offroading regularly but slowed way down the last few years. Miss that type of scenery.
the overcast sky was perfect for making the colors pop yesterday! Around my inlaws house in N Conway the color was pretty good, but there was much more color when I started driving up the Kanc.
I would love to see the colours of fall back east one year. One of the members posted this link a few years back and I check it quite regularly during the fall. It looks like now would be the time to be visiting Maine. I wonder if New Brunswick would be early than this. MaineFoliage.com - Maine's Official Fall Foliage Website
I've been around a few years but have to say that this year's color is the most disappointing I've ever seen. At first it appeared we would really have an early and beautiful fall. Now it does not appear there will be much. However, there is still some time and lots of green leaves yet.
I don't mean to keep hijacking this thread. Here is a picture of my parents Norway with the fungus on the leaves. Say maybe close to half the leaf is brown already, there won't be much color if any on the rest of it.
its worth it!!! This is from several years ago, but its my favorite fall picture that I have taken. I had driven hundreds of miles that year looking for photo spots in the white mountains, and the best one was literally 100 yards from the back door of our house in North Conway, NH.
