We arrived on the National Mall around 1:30pm today for the Wood Stove Decathalon. They had a big tent set up with 14 class A flues for the 14 contestants. We spent most of our time chatting with Tom and his staff from Woodstock. Tom gave me a guided tour and verbal instructions on operating the Beta version of the Ideal Steel stove. Then we had to meet him a couple blocks north of the Mall to transfer the stove from his van to our pickup. (They had an awesome tool for that. It looked like a cross between an appliance dolly and a miniature forklift with hand cranked forks.)

We returned to the Mall and met up with Backwoods Savage and his wonderful bride. Great to meet Dennis and Judy!

Here they are with me (on the right) and Tom from Woodstock.

Tom insisted on introducing me to Craig from Hearth.com. Here they are chatting in front of his booth (I'll fix the photos on my desktop when I get home to PA):

Other stoves. Sorry but we just didn't have enough time to get details on these other stoves. We spent most of our time going over details of the Beta Ideal Steel and getting it transferred and re parking on the Mall.

I think someone used a 30 for their electronic stove control but I'm not certain.

I'm posting from my iPhone on the road so I apologize in advance for all the typos and photo formatting. I'll clean it all up later if possible.

That and I am confused as to which teams are there. Not Brian's fault. I saw a brief list on the leader board with only 10 teams. I know for certain that Lars dropped out.

Dragon Heater was not able to bring their stove up. So they are in attendance but not competing. They are assisting Matt from Walker Stoves.

Lars dropped out mainly because of regulations for builds on the Mall and weight. I am sure Dragon Heaters had the same issue.
