Replacement piston options for MS460 w/big bore?

I have a basket case MS460 I want to put back together. The previous owner installed a big bore kit from Bailey's (presumably the NWP kit), and sometime later the piston failed rather spectacularly, with the wrist pin breaking out and shattering the piston skirt. The cylinder looks fine so replacing the piston should get it back in business, but I'm not seeing a replacement piston offered separately from the kit on Bailey's site. I sent them an email asking about it, but I'm not holding my breath.

I see that Huztl offers a 54mm "big bore" piston for the 460, as do some completely no-name generics. What other options might exist? Meteor offers a 54mm piston, but it's marketed for the 066/660. Espian offers an equivalent. Does anyone know whether that's essentially the same piston design as the 460 BB? I imagine there could be differences in the distance between the wrist pin and the top of the piston, the diameter of the wrist pin, the shape of the skirt, etc. but they look awfully similar and I can't help thinking that Bailey's/NWP would've used an existing piston design for the kit rather than engineering something new. Thoughts? Actual knowledge?

I have heard to use factory wrist pins not the AM ones.

Some say the OEM clips are the way to go but that's the first I've heard of the pin itself being suspect.

I did a 54mm MS460 using a Hyway kit. But it was a complete top-end, not just a piston. Maybe mdavlee knows as I have not seen inside a 066/660 in many years.

I have used a couple Hyway kits myself, but on the 036 and 026 specifically.

I have a 046 on the way that needs some pieces/parts. I believe the P & C are fine, but being an eBay deal? I won't know till I see. So I am interested in this thread myself. :)

066 meteor piston should work. I don't know how long the skirts are on it. That would be my pick if I couldn't find a new oem cylinder.

I agree with mike. If your stuck on using the big bore cylinder, get a meteor 66 piston. IIRC, you'd have to make the piston a popup, or cut the combustion chamber for adequate squish clearance....or run a really thick base gasket which wouldn't be my first choice but it does work.

Here you're beyond my plug-and-play level of experience. Does making a piston a "popup" mean machining some material off the edge around the top?

Popup is material off the piston. That would be best more than likely. If you cut the chamber it may free port the exhaust port.
