In the market for a new fridge. Had a GE that lasted like 18 months till last November finally got fixed in January with a new compressor ( that fixed it till here lately now its only maintaining 40F... so I'll be getting my extended warranty going next week). But I ended up buy a LG after 3 weeks of not having a fridge in December. Well it completely died in 6 1/2 months later. I've been without a decent in the house fridge now since June 30th. I think I finally got this current fridge issues moving forward, crossing the fingers. So what to replace it with. I'm currently a little gun shy right now. Reading reviews is ain't getting me no where, as apparently there's either a lot of bad units (all name brands or a lot whiners). What brand have you had success with here lately?

Currently we have a Whirlpool and it is going on 6 years.
I know what you mean. I have had bad luck with refrigerators in the past.

Ironically, both our fridges are Kenmore.

The kitchen fridge was here when we purchased the house in 2010, and the beer fridge we got about 2 yrs ago. It is on the front porch.

We actually talked to the guy that does our garbage pickup, he said he was picking up fridges all the time. Had like 10 when I looked and chose this one.

    So there's that.

    $.02

There was a 1962 Frigidaire here when I bought the house...it was an ugly yellow, but worked fine, and we were house poor at that point, so we used it...for over 10 years. I finally got a wild hair and replaced it with a Amana with a 12 month warranty...the evaporator fan motor died at about 13 months...$30 motor later it worked fine again, and now 10 years later it still is...oh, and I sold that old Frigidaire to a guy that wanted a "classic" looking fridge...I bet it is STILL working!
That Amana is used as a second fridge in the basement now as I replaced it in the kitchen with a nice used Whirlpool French door fridge with pullout bottom freezer drawer...we like it pretty well, but it quit defrosting after we had it about 2 years...replaced the circuit board with an upgraded reman'd lifetime warranty board for $75, been fine since.
I really think brand is almost irrelevant anymore...they all junk compared to the old ones...oh, and speaking of, I replaced that old 1962 fridge because it was supposedly SOOO inefficient and costing me tons of $$...well, when I got the new one I found the wattage on it to be very similar to the old one...so I thought maybe the new one will run a lot less, save me money that way...nope, electric bill didn't change that I could tell.
I'm really temped to just keep buying nice used ones whenever we need a replacement...a WHOLE lot cheaper, and reliability seems to be about the same as brand new ones...people are always selling appliances when they move...or remodel.

We had a Maytag lasted 12 years until last week.. Had to shop price only this time so I picked up a Midea Yesterday and I think I got what I paid for. :) Seems to be very slow to recover after you open the door to grab something.

Not good for a big family with a bunch of little "doormen" huh? (little kids that are always opening the doors up every few minutes and then stand there staring for way too long)

Just replaced a Frigidaire which lasted 18 years with a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool is a piece of junk, I will be surprised if we get 5 years out of it.

I have a Kenmore elite that was here when we moved in. 3 years so far and going strong. I think already had a few miles on it though. We picked up a Maytag meat freezer about 2 years ago and we have been happy with that. Got a Maytag washer this past spring and my wife likes it so much she won't let me do laundry.

Head into the Sears Outlet store on Front Street, last time I was there they had about 400 fridges in there. Some of them were scratch & dent & some were not scuffed up. They had several brands.

Bought a new GE when ex and i bought our new house Feb 2000. I sold house in 2010 and it was still going strong. Had ice & water dispenser.
Bought a new Samsung Spring of 2013 and its still works fine. Great sale at local electronics/appliance store. Door seal on freezer has slight leak so ice crystals on humid days.
The extra one downstairs is a smaller Frigidaire from my moms house. Came here when she went into a home. Its maybe 6-7 years old and no issues.
I DONT recommend Asko for washer/dryer or dishwasher. Dunno if they make fridges though.
Does Stihl or Husqvarna make refrigerators?

This house had a Kenmore fridge, with the freezer on the bottom when I moved in Thanksgiving of 2013 and it is still doing its thing. The freezer is not a drawer type, - has a regular door and shelving. It is a pretty basic fridge with an icemaker (never been hooked up or used).

We have a Kenmore Elite...Who knows who actually makes it, but it has been good to us for the last 7 or 8 years.

Kenmore is a hodge podge of manufacturing companies depending on the refrigerator level...

Heck even after reading what I’ve read so far within there own company some models are more prone to issues than others. You’d think after this many years, they’d kinda of gotten it figured out...
