Some body is blowing them out on ebay right now. I couldn't help myself. $209+$20 shipping. That's almost $100 dollars off. Just letting you guys know. These things are said to come alive with a muffler mod. At 9.5lbs I'm sure it will be nice to use. They have gz4500s for $50 more. Get'm while they are still there.

It's because redmax is no more in the states. We have a thread on it on Chainsaw Repair by a dealer.

They are great saws.. The Earthquake copies don't come close in quality/performance, but parts will interchange from a China copy, to the Red max design.

Please keep us in the loop on your thoughts :)

Is this just for saws? I saw a whole wall display at the local guy's shop yesterday. Strangely I didn't look much at them, but one wall Echo and the other RedMax for sure. I was drooling over tractors and cringing at prices for replacing my wheels.

Seriously though, that is a good price on a decent saw!

Will do. I think I will like it. I'm gonna try to get some 63 ps for it. Wonder if MasterMech still has some?

You will like that 63ps chain on the 4000. That is what I have on mine.

Saw came today. What do I think? Out of the box.... it ran terrible. I pulled the limiters and re tuned the saw. It's right now. When I say right I mean as its as good as it can be. Probably not all the saws fault, I'm running 32:1 mix. I'll be muffler modding it this weekend. I'm sure, based on reading the earthquake/redmax threads, that it will come alive. I really like the size and weight. It starts easy and oils great. Now I'm just waiting some 63ps from MasterMech. I believe it will make me happy after the muffler is opened up and it has decent chain.

Sounds like the earthquakes. They run 2x better with muffler modd.

Well the 4000 is an interesting little saw. Out of the box, with factory cutting equipment, it's a dog. Muffler modded, correctly tuned, and wearing chisel chain, it's a lot of saw in a small package. That 63ps chain is the real deal.
