I transplanted this redbud tree about 30 years ago, and for an understory tree that gets full sun practically all day, it has thrived much better than I expected. The birch tree behind it was planted at the same time, they are two of my favorite trees.

That's what I was thinking yesterday when I thought I should give it some props. My dad and I transplanted it together, it's a fond memory of him, the hummingbirds like that tree, and the flowers have a mild pleasant taste.

Yep, 30 years is a long time for a redbud. When it's time is up it makes great firewood, if you get it before it rots. The wood also has great color and figure because of the twisted way the grow.
