Looking at getting a second bar and chain for my Stihl ms291, 18". cutting 90% oak, clearing land. Admittedly the chain gets alot of use/abuse. Probable about 40-50 trees down in the last month ranging from 2" to 20" and some bigger and smaller stuff yet to come. clearing land for horse pastures. thanks!

That saw should be able to drive a 20 inch bar and chain. Be sure to match the driving sprocket by getting a .325 size bar and chain.

Need some more info: pitch of chain(3/8 or .325) gauge (.050,.058,.063).
You'd be best keeping the same size so you don't have to keep track of different chains/files/etc. Someone here might even have a bar and chain(s) laying around that they don't need and would sell you very cheap.

Check the current bar for pitch and guage. My friends new MS291 actually came with Picco bar and chain. FWIW, it runs a 20" setup just fine. If you want to have two bars, I would recommend a 20" and 14" or 16". If you want just one bar, I'd stick with the 18".
