    I thought I would have seen a little more snow on the ground and the grass is really green.
    Looks like the top really broke up.
    Also looks like you should have good firewood there once split and stacked. Good job getting those down.

    Negatives: Gotta be careful with it as unseasoned it creates a lot of creosote. Doesn’t burn long and is fast to rot if left on the ground too long. Dangerous to fall because it easily splits and barber chairs.

    Positives: Grows like a weed so it is plentiful. From a mature Alder forest it doesn’t have a lot of branches. Splits extremely easy and seasons fairly quick if exposed to sun. Isn’t pitchy and the bark is thin so it doesn’t make a big mess.

    These two little ones had more branches than usual because they were growing in the open sunlight.

    Our house isn’t very big and the weather pretty mild most of the time so it works well for us. Douglas Fir is probably the premium wood around here and will get a better price per cord.
