how many of you guys are on rain delay? Was getting some splitting done, but now I am watching it rain pretty hard. Frustrating
I would be angry as the town just took down some trees nearby and it started raining right after I got the first load off the truck and cut to length, but then I realized I was exhausted from the cold I've been fighting the last few days and figured it was nature's way of telling me to eat some chicken soup and relax. Wife agreed with nature, turned on the football game, and relax I did. It's ok.. most of the wood is large by huge and the scroungers won't mess with it too much before I can get in there healthy.
Same here. Split about a cord before it really started coming down. I'm inside watching it rain and the stove is burning. Really happy to have the rain for sure!
I'm never on a rain delay on the weekends because my wife is a school teacher and she's off on weekends. Nuff said!
I generally do not mind a little rain when working in the woods. The challenge is I turn my work area into a foot of mud between the gator, splitter and tractor running through it. If I am splitting big rounds, it get a bit tough with the slipper wood also (noting the round that fell and pinned by hand against the frame momentarily yesterday). Regardless, if I am just splitting from a pile into a nearby pile and the rounds are small (less than 20 inches), rain will not stop me unless its a downpour.
Had rain all Sunday here but started and finished my 150' of hand digging a trench to get electric to the barn even managed to get the pipe in and backfill The mrs. Thought I was nuts for being out there but the trench goes right where the new stacks are going to start so had to get it done
