Id like to make a map of a rail line, with industries, various stubs and runnarounds, water and road underpasses, overpasses (ped, power lines, roads), grade crossings, private crossings, mile markers..... It would not be to scale, just a straight line with various tracks drawn left and right...

I have hand drawn a few, and they are a lot of work, but they are accurate, up to date, and can be read in low light conditions. I'd like to find a simple program that I could add the above items to, to create.a.straight line map. I just spent a frustrating hour online looking for same.

    Anyone ever do this?

No, never heard of such. I’ve studied alternative ways of representing data, so sounds interesting. Will a simple CAD program, like SketchUp, work?

For survey, we used Autodesk Autocad Civil3D. As students we got a free version to work with.

there are similar software that’s not as expensive.
