When or if does a SS liner need to be replaced? We are going to replace the old faithful Appalachian insert in the spring. It came with the house and near as I can determine is about 25 years old maybe more, and I'm sure that's when the liner was installed as well. Just wondering if I need to replace the liner before installing a new stove. Still not sure what stove I will be buying but I will have the dealer or a sweep check out the liner to be sure it's ok or not. Just looking for some insight here.:coffee: Thanks...

A chimney sweep with a camera would be able to tell you the condition of your SS flue.
Might be cheaper than replacing if it doesn't need to be

Thanks that's what I was thinking, I really should have that done regardless since I clean it myself.
Havn't had a pro look at it since we bought the house 15 years ago.

I would definitely have it inspected first. I just purchased the house I'm in now in March. The flue for the wood furnace was cracked and had to put a SS liner in. $1625!!

Getting it inspected for sure, I think it's ok but want to make sure, don't want to install a new stove then a liner later on.:headbang:

Is your liner insulated by any chance?
