I was thinking about hauling my basement unit outside for a complete cleaning. However I know that I put LOTS of silicone in the appliance adapter to reduce leaking when I installed it a few years ago so removing this would be for pros dealing with these units. Looking for tips and tricks to do a good job without moving the stove outside (which would be my preferred way). I have only used the leaf blower from outside and never have done a complete cleaning. Never removed combustion motor once in 5 years or more since installed. I have a tee next to appliance adapter and then 6 feet up and then 2 feet outside. I may be able to remove cap in the tee. Thanks.
With a leaf blower you don't need to take it outside. The Santa Fe is an easy unit to clean. Hook up the leaf blower outside and run it wide open. Then remove the inner baffles and scrub and use compressed air. Easy peasy..
Yup, that is what I did a couple weeks ago... Maybe I will haul it outside in the spring as a separate project because I have to re-paint its base. I assume the combustion blower is near the appliance adapter on the left, I will check tonight as there's a side panel that you can remove. At a glance, think I remember a carousel on both sides, left and right, and thought it is the room blower?
It is quite possible after a leaf blower treatment your combustion blower will be pretty clean. I looked at my combustion blower twice, years apart after doing the LBT and it was fine.
