    Hello
I Bypassed the vacuum switch on the inside back panel and checked the high limit switch on the auger tube and it was good. (Closed Circuit)
The stove works but at 1 am it shut down and did not restart even though the red call light was on!
Since it has a new Thermocouple and new manual T-Stat they are not suspects in this case!
So I bailed out some pellets and removed the triangular side panel on the right side. I was surprised not to see the old gray control box but even more surprised to see a newer clear box but with no green wire from the red Thermocouple to the ground screw! So I pulled out the new control box and found it is clearer than the control box in the stove! The only other obvious difference is the shape of the screw driver slot to change the box for the different model stoves.
So I put the green wire in and the new clearer control box in so now we will see if the stove will run all night again like it did for the last 3 months!
    What do you all think?

Thanks - I have been so busy today, I did not notice that! The one made in China is the newest one, like all the other new Quad parts!
It is 18 Degs out now at 8 pm so we will see if it runs thru the night tonight???

    Hello
I forgot to post the green wire connected to the red thermocouple wire. I believe it prevents noise spikes so the voltage from the Thermocouple is more consistent as it heats up.
The older stoves do not have it, So it comes with all the new control boxes!
Do you guys have it? Any comments?

It ties one side of the tcouple to ground preventing excess noise. IIRC.

It was for 2003 and earlier stoves as you could get a static charge that would follow the tcouple back to box and short it. Esp. when vacuuming the firepot and box. Since then, they started grounding them when assembled. I couldn't remember all the details, so had to call tech support at Quad. Brain cells aint what they used to be.:picard:kap

I seem to remember fairly well. Don't have a clue as to why, however.

Well the Quadrafire is no behaving and ran all night again! Harray!!!!

Also attached is the grounding kit instructions I found for all Quadrafires. It is dated Feb 9, 2004
So I assume at that time there was no internal fix on the new stoves.

So Kap - How do we know if a stove made after this time has the grounding fix????

They are keeping those grounds in the package as they don't know who is buying the boxes, and what year stove they have

Yes I understand but is there a way for us to tell if the grounding fix is in our stove?

    Thanks Cap
One thing I know for sure is if the green ground is connected to the white thermocouple wire, the stove will not continue to run. That may be because the red wire is grounded internally then it both wires are grounded there is 0 voltage from the Thermocouple!! LOL
That maybe the only way to tell if the stove has the ground right?

It is grounded inside the junction box. And ya, two grounds, don't make it right:p

    Let’s explain this.
A ground on the outside of the box on the same red Thermocouple wire grounded on the inside of the box is fine.
However grounding the white wire on the outside of the box when the red wire is grounded inside of the box results in zero volts and is a big No-No :)
