Quad Contour not firing at 22 Deg F another issue! Saga continues - Fix Found!

True case of CSS now! Cold Start Syndrome. Stove would not start at 22 Deg F. Hit reset 3 timmes then it finally started. Got new universal clear control box for all Quad models. Set rotary knob to pos 4 for Quad Contour.
replaced old gray controol box with this new one. this morning it was 23 Deg in shed. Turned on remote switch and stove fired the very 1st time! True case of CSS.

The new control box overrides the rocker switch stting I had on mediunn and sets the exhaust fan to high during startup. Stove fired right up. See pics below

Are you going to put the old auger motor you replaced the other day back in now that you have the new control box? It can't be cheap throwing parts at a problem. At least then you'd know if the original motor is good enough to keep as a spare.

 

The motor did not work at the lower temps, but I believe it is mainly due to the internal capacitor failing by being open at the lower temps. So the new motor that came with the external capacitor seemed to me my only fix, since my supplier was out of external capacitors. Kinda complicated but the 14 year old feed motor has probably seeen better days since older coil windings have less torque. Therefore I am happy with the new feed motor and the updated control box.
