We did this back in May of '08. http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/useralbums/milling-some-logs.62/view
Looks great, Dave. What did it cost you to have that done? My stand of red pine needs some serious cleanup and thinning, or I'm going to lose it all to bark beetles. My little basement bandmill is going to have an awfully hard time keeping up.
Well, kind of a long story, but we worked it out so he took all the 2x stuff and I kept the 1x. I was his assistant (grunt labor), and no other cost. He ended up with a similar amount. I should have taken some of the 2x. His going rate was $.20/bd. ft. If I remember correctly. Win, win.
My memory obviously failed me in the past when I mentioned doing that, but it was about 2 weeks, according to the pics. Seems like it was 3 though. Some days we worked over 8 hours, others only half day. Good experience.
