Using a Chainsaw to Ice Skate Over Lake in Alaska

Man using chainsaw a tow vehicle to skate across frozen lake. Would probably have been more comfortable with a longer bar.

My favorite part is when the announcer says "he doesn't seem worried at all about breaking through the ice". I have to say that breaking through the ice took a distant second place to emasculation with a chainsaw on my list of worries.

My back got sore watching that. He needs a longer bar and chain, or a pole saw.

I have seen enough stupidity as it is than to watch these idiots. Remember last year the sofa surfing behind cars; one guy became a grill ornament doing that stupidity. That is one problem with YouTube; however, I guess it does improve the human gene pool.

I don't look at it like these people are dumb at all. They both look like adults and I would bet a crisp $100 bill that says they both know the risks of their actions. They choose to take some risk, have a good time and enjoy life. Much the same as people who choose to drag race their cars, people that free climb, sky dive, race motorcycles, etc.

No big deal from where I stand. Kudos to both for having some spirit for life.

When the Ice Castles are built here in the Twin Cities, this year in Stillwater. Just up the road from me. The ice is cut with a chainsaw all the time. The big time ice carvers use chainsaws as well. A few years ago I recall a guy on the lake while ice fishing cut his hole in the ice with a chainsaw. Seemed to work ok.
