Howdy everyone sorry for the long absence but I am still here! Been busy with work and life. Still in the firewood game but admittedly I am behind where I would like to be with amounts of CSS wood. One big reason for the slow down in production is my firewood helper. While super adorable and sometimes helpful he is just a few years from serious help. Anyways hope everyone is well and settling in to the burn season. Here he is helping gather kindling
Adorable he is! Won't be long and don't rush it. Mine is 17 and really doesn't want to firewood anymore. Rather be with his girl, as I understand. Such is life. Really didn't expect it to go so darn fast.
For sure, make certain you enjoy those years when they are young. Like cute, youth does not stay. It is sort of what many need to teach young girls; cute is nice but it goes away and that is why you need a skill; even while you are still cute or pretty. As for the boys, we cherish the memories of our boys. In fact, just this morning my wife and I were talking about some of the good times we had with our kids when they were still kids. Like the time when we used to make most of our own ice cream. Then when our eldest got big enough that he really wanted to "help" dad, he wanted to crank that thing. So, we let him and encouraged him. Boy oh boy were we amazed at how far along he got the ice cream. When it came time to finish I could barely believe just how hard it cranked. I think he was only 2 or 3 years old at the time too. But that is just one memory. We also have memories of them helping with firewood too. Like that one Thanksgiving day when we got 4" of snow but we also bucked up a big buzz pile before the Thanksgiving dinner. Using the old Farmall Super M with buzz saw on front, I ran the table, oldest brought buzz lengths to me and youngest was off-bearer, we buzzed many cord of wood that morning. At lots of dinner too! Yes, cherish these days.
Mine like burning it and put up with giving me a lift wi the heavy stuff , rest is left to me ( there 22 and 23) Take plenty of picks that time just flys by
He's at that age where a different kind of wood is on his mind Always nice to see pics of kids helping with firewood.
