I've been on the phone for the last 2 hours with Pay Pal. If you have Pay Pal, Face book or any one of those social accounts, Change your pass word and check your bank account! My Pay Pal was hacked and my wife's Facebook was hacked also. "LUCKY" nothing hit our back accounts and we shut it down before the damage was done. As some of you may know, last year my Identity was stolen and 9 Credit cards were taken out in my name. It was a 2 week night mare to get things fixed, accounts changed and getting my credit fixed! Take the time now and check!!! It just happened again, but Pay Pal sent me an e-mail stating an e-mail account was added to my Pay Pal that (I) did not add and they deleted my primary e-mail.
    Don't wait!

Had PP until probably 6 months ago. Same scenario. Tons of emails in the middle of the night. I just changed the password and closed the account and have seen nothing hit my bank. Yesterday morning I checked my email and had one from PP again. I don’t remember what it said but it was trying to be hacked again.

You also have to watch out for those phishing emails…. The ones that look correct, but something tells it’s not. Of I get a email from said place… I’ll usually just got to said place and do my investigation…

but that’s why I have my PayPal locked to a bank account with virtually very few dollars in it.

Thanks Dave, I just closed my account. I still have Venmo if I need it, and they haven't outlawed physical currency yet so I guess I'm good for now :)

I had a phishing scam through PP the other week. Said something about my crypto purchase was ready to be processed. Yeah, i dont think so.
Several years ago wife had issue with PP. They seem to be one of the worse with identity theft, and scams.

I don’t have anything linked to my bank accounts. No auto payments. The few things I have are routed through 2 cc’s that have fraud protection and notifications.
If you use cc’s it’s inevitable that your #’s will get stolen and used. There’s millions of stolen cc #’s for sale online. They will start with small $ purchases hoping to remain undetected. Watch your statements.

I just got an email from my bank that someone tried to access our accounts the other night... I tried to call them (verified the phone number first) and they close at 7 pm...too late... I did email the fraud line though...they responded to call them 7a to 7p! :headbang:
Checked account..so far nothing suspicious going on...

Thanks for the heads up. Just checked paypal and seems okay. Got a starnge email the other day but knew it was a scam. The more of this crab that goes on reassures my liking to what i call COH...Cash On Hand. I HATE plastic or electronic money and if a business wont accept my greenback then i wont do business with them. Like Eric said, wonder how long before csah is useless.

No Farcebook, no Twitter (it's for twits anyway), no Flea Bay and especially no Pay-Pal because it's Goggle and I don't do Goggle ever. Always DDG. I use 'Parallel Economy' for payments. You don't accept it, I don't do business with you.

I just don't do Paypal. Many moons ago they almost cost me a lot of dollars and didn't seem interested in getting things straight. It came out ok but I just no longer use it.

I've PayPal'd the hell out of things, for many many years. Not had an issue yet. I did just change my password though. Thanks Dave for reminding us of the vulnerability of electronic funds transfer.

So i haven't used PayPal in years. Just figured out how to login, had to change my password to get in. And I removed the debit card from the account. I would think that's good enough to prevent fraud, if no account is linked?

cash will never be useless. At least not while I'm alive. I love to pay in cash. If not cash I use a CC so if I screw up and someone gets the numbers it is easy to stop and get the money back.
I only use my debit card at the ATM to take cash out. I despise dealing with a bank, trying to get a fraud taken care of is ridiculous with them. Government loves a cashless society though, so easy to track all your expenses that way. I deleted my paypal account years ago when they were forced to start handing out 1099's.

Just an fyi, Venmo is owned by PayPal.

All forms of online shopping or payment are always under attack so regular password changing is a best case policy.

Cash is king in my book but can't always make that happen when you need something sooner rather than later. :D

No PayPal or debit cards here. CC or cash.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Dave!

Well my wife just told me that PayPal had announced a new policy that if you were deemed to promote disinformation, hate speech, or basically anything that they deem wrong or against the narritive that they were going to deduct $2500 from your account. They then said that that was a mistake and shouldn't have been posted and was done so in error!! Haha sure yea right a company that big chit doesn't just "accidentally" be posted as new policy and email all it's users! Their stock tanked after the announcement and they lost 5% of users basically overnight is why they discovered the error!!
