County Line 25-ton splitter. Hose came undone at clamp after we replaced the hose due to a pinhole leak/failure and spewed out a bunch of the hydraulic oil. Must replace the hydraulic oil. Specs from the manual... Hydraulic Oil ............................................. AW32, AW46 & Universal Hydraulic Oil Hydraulic Capacity .................................................................................... 4 Gallon So, what's best AW32, AW46 or Universal or does it matter? The only product available locally says SAE20. I need to go back and read the fine print. I am ignorant about specs on hydraulic fluid/oil, I don't know what "32" or "46" or "universal" means in this context. Tractor Supply will have some SAE20 on sale next for $17 for 5 gallons; if that would work, that is a low price. This SAE20 hydraulic oil available local to me is $35.
Some light reading for you..... What is AW 32 hydraulic oil? Page Loading in a moment AW 32, 46, 68, and 100 Page Loading in a moment SAE in hydraulics The "32" and "46" is a measure of the oil's viscosity.. like "5w-30" is for engine oil... The higher the number the, for lack of a better word, "thicker" the oil is. If the "SAE" oil you're thinking of adding is labeled for hydraulic use, the SAE20 is equal in viscosity to AW68.... kind of thick or heavy for your splitter's specs.
