mdavlee was kind enough to send a 394xp my way for a reasonable price. I was everything he described so I have been having fun cleaning and disassembling the saw in preparation for new parts.

The piston needed replacing awhile ago. But the jug looks good and the bottom end seems solid. Good thing because I have plans for it.

Cannon or Tsumura. The Tsumura tips is more efficient. With the Canadian dollar down now is the time to get one.

Yes. Thata the best spot for the .063 ones. Grab a stihl mount since .063" oils better.

I was just ordering a couple loops of ripping chain for the new bar and realized that I may have saved some money on the saw, but I sure am spending a bunch on everything else! Like closing in on $900 bunch. Well that includes the saw.

I just use what chain I have on hand. I found a local shop with a 36" planer so finish isn't a concern.

Got parts in for the 394.

    image.jpg

And got the saw put back together.

I checked the squish on the new piston and it was .028 without the base gasket. So I went with it and left it out.

Trying to decide how to do the muffler mod. On it so as little exhaust as possible is blowing back at me. Any input is welcome.
