I know the title of this thread have some you saying.."Are you nuts???!!"....Hear me out... I have a 40 foot long row of privet hedges that need a reset. That is were you take them down to about 2-3 inch nubs and let them grow over again. As they stand..they are about 8-10 feet tall and each shoot or stem that I will be cutting off is about an inch in diameter. If I wait...say a year.... could I use these as kindling??? I will have ALOT OF THEM...Just a crazy thought....
If you have the time, patience and energy to do it i dont see why not. ALOT of kindling though. Cut off the stalks throw them aside as is and take when needed next burning season.
I can't see why not. My sister had a hedge about that length and I cut it back to about 8 feet tall. I used a flail shredder to get rid of it. Took me a couple of weekends. I used huge loppers. AT the time I didn't know you could trim it to the ground. I would have. It was out of control huge. Turned out it was actually the neighbor's hedge but they didn't know it at the time. Old houses.
