So yesterday I was flipping thru the local for sale paper and saw an ad free red oak firewood for sale. I called last night at work and the fella had some land logged. He said there’s all kinds of tops left to cut. He said it’s a mixture of Oak, hickory, ash, and poplar. Also one of the extra benefits is his land butts up to a river and he has some great fishing. So maybe just maybe I might be able to get permission to fish. Anyway I’m meeting him tomorrow so he can show me exactly where it’s at.
Way to go buttercup. Ok that just sounds funny. But seriously nice score. I hope it turns into a nice honey hole.
As long as he he isn't getting you to do his brushing, It can be a lot of work for not that much wood. I've come across that before. PLEASE be sure to wear your chaps brushing, I've hit my chaps twice while brushing. Scared me more than you can imagine. A friend of mine, a profensional logger 30 yrs. ago hit his leg with the saw out back of my house while brushing tree tops. Right down to the bone with no chaps. He was lucky, he only missed 3 months of work.
Well I take it that free red oak firewood for sale means free wood. Sounds like a good deal and time to load up. Congrats on your find.
I helped a friend with an arrangement like that last year, it worked pretty good. Whatever we didn't take where we were working we put on the ground was the agreement. Hopefully it works out for you.
