Yep. Dropped a 6.5 ho predator on the old Didier splitter safer the 35+ yr old 5 hp Briggs died of lack of oil. Who knew? ;) It drank oil and I didn't catch it. Anyway. Yeah, the predator is easy to start, even in cold, sips fuel, is pretty quiet, and bolted right up where the Briggs was. The only issue was the old Lovejoy on the crank stub was not coming off, so I got a new coupler for the engine side to go with the new spider.

Tons more power than that old Briggs too.

Definitely worth it to go with a predator engine. I've done 3 splitter swaps so far and several of the 23 hp engines in other machines. Can't go wrong with the price and so far haven't need any parts at all.

Yea my buddy put one on to replace his worn our Briggs about 8 years or so ago. May have been 10 now? We both split with it. I use three cords a year but don't split it all with a splitter. He may split half that. Starts as reliability as a Honda. Only issue is recently a leak from the carb that you just have to tighten up the fuel cutoff.

We are both amazed by it. Run it dry and let it sit six months and it will start back second pull. If either of us broke it we would not hesitate to go buy another.

Honda GC and GS engines are Made In USA. Just sayin...especially in light of recent events. Yep, gonna cost you a little more....isn't it worth it? Why not?

I get what your saying. But I don't make enough money to buy USA on things that you have an option too. Pay triple for a small engine , pay $0.50 more here and $10.00 more there and $2.50 there quickly you run out of money for things. Something has to change if we are going to try to buy American stuff again. I don't like it either but again. I only make so much money and I have to buy certain things in life.

$100 vs $300 is a big price desparity.

Yes, I'll pay way more to support an American billionaire CEO rather than save myself a couple Franklins. Tired argument from used American workers. Get real.

For the money the Predictor can't be beat.
A co worker has one on his homemade splitter and just gas and go. Always starts in 1-2 pulls and runs all day long.

My new splitter has the Raven 15 HP ( similar to the Preditor ) and it runs great. Easy on fuel and quiet compared to some others. Sure it isn't a Honda but it does have a 3 year warrantee as well.

Don't knock till you try it.
