My good buddy went to a swap meet the other day and stumbled across this. He and I can’t figure out what it is. Figured someone here would know!
Interesting ; you got me on that one. I tried a quick Google search and so far have come up empty. Going to keep looking , you have my curiosity with this one.
Im thinking that maybe a unique restoration piece. Im wondering if that may be the ticket for buzz-saw? Although he has turned into the old hand saw hoarder. It'd defintely be neat to see it running and in action.
Yeah that is different for sure. Only two old hand saws , I only have so much wall space. Oh" plus the old one in the garage and the one I made that is the welcome sign. Thats enough for now! I was just given a Stihl S10 Top Handle from a coworker That is in pretty good shape , still has the original bar and shows little signs of use. This looks like it is from 1968 I'll probably disassemble, clean and make this a runner for the heck of it. Still looking for one from the 50's for a complete restoration and a display piece on the shelf.
LOL , you think. It is different , there are a couple youtube videos out there, It doesn't look like the easiest handling piece of equipment. The price seems like a lot for something from the 40's. The video I watched mentioned circa 1947 , and the flyer RCBS posted shows it for $165 just seems expensive for that era.
Somone previously mentioned that it would be about $3,800 today. Looking at all of the casting and machining work to produce that, plus the engine - and thinking about what labor would be involved to produce that in the 1940s before CNC's and prob not expensive enough or high enough volume to justify any of the available semi-automated options available then. Yeah, sounds about right.
