I will admit I'm a bit of a gear junkie. I have a powerbox my wife gave me for my husky 460, that now houses my CS -490, because it doesn't fit my CS-590. I have a nice chainsaw case designed out in my head, but haven't had the time to build it yet. Visiting the depot yesterday I noticed they had a new bag for holding chainsaws, so $40 later I got to try it out. This was after I grabbed the demo 590 on the shelf and stuffed it into the bag to be sure it would actually fit, I'm sure I gave the security camera people a heart attack I tried it out at home and found a few things good and bad about it. Good: It works by having a hole in one end of the bag, the hole is surrounded by thick tough vinyl to keep it from tearing or being cut by the chain. It also has a tough rubbery bottom sewed onto the bag, so oil and gas won't leak through, hopefully they won't eat it either. There is a large zippered pocket on one side, my stump vise, scrench, and possibly a spare chain will fit there. (The power box has places for the stump vise to lock into, but it is always rolling around when I open the box) If you have a shorter bar, you could keep a spare in the pocket. the handles are solid and it seems to protect the 590 well. Cons: Cheap plastic scabbard got stuck on my chain, after only going on a few inches. I'll stick with the nice beefy orange Echo ones sold at the depot. Bag won't zip over the guard on the 590. Anything smaller I'm sure it will, even my husky 460 will fit. Not a deal breaker for me, I never zip any of the tool bags I use at work either. If therewas a zipper at the other end, I could zip it shut most of the way. The shoulder strap attachment clips are flimsy, I plan on replacing the strap with a spare quality one. Not that I carry my saw in a case very much anyway. The saw teeth catch on the opening in the bag. This will not be an issue if you have a scabbard that covers the whole bar, I have a 24" Bar on my saw currently, and the scabbard is only for a 20" one. Either or: There are pocketson the outside of the zippered pocket, I probably won't everuse them, as stuff can fall out easily. They would be more useful inside the bag. Overall I like not having my saw exposed to being banged around. I think the bag will make it less visible to a potential theif. I like that it won't leak through when the saw dribbles. And it is much less bulky than the powerbox, even with a bigger saw in it.
