So I got a chance to run the saw after cleaning g the bar holes out.

This is a 1996 model and is 36cc. Looks like a wild thing but is just a 50th anniversary model.

Those of you talking about the lack of anti vibe ARE NOT kidding!!! Geezze

And after it was warm it went from bogging out to leaning out. I am pretty sure the charb is toast and have a $7 rebuild kit on the way for it.

If it got lean after warming up? I'd be looking into an air leak somewhere (carb boot/manifold, seals, etc).

Thought of that but would it go from fine to lean to fine to lean to rich to fine to rich etc?

It only seems to be up high? I will are when I dig into it. Kit is on order.

Leaky caps, the rubber seals are dry rotted. Ibbought it with an "oiler not working" for $20. I figured there was just trash the bar holes, by looking at the wear and that it "worked last time" and that I could see oil running dripping out of the clutch cover area.

And there was just trash in the hole.

Air filter was dry rotted and I have a new carb kit.

Can you swap the seals? Or has to be the whole cap?

Always ends up being the little rubber vent inside the cap .

I was thinking you could put an boring around it just looking quick at it...but that was with it on the saw.

This one is bubbling out gas in the sun so something is not venting right.

I also just realized there is no chain brake on this thing....can't believe a homeowner saw made in 96 did not have one?

Apparently that was a pro feature??

Theres a little rubber "duckbill" vent in the center of the cap...... They are suppose to allow air to vent in ...but when wore...they allow gas to leak out instead :( Its a good idea..just not a great one :)

Check the mesh screen in the carb real well. I had a saw act similar to that, and ended up being fines blocking the fine mesh filter in the carb.

Can't expect much for a $100 KMart saw. To think Poulan once was a decent brand till they farmed out to the big box stores.

I found the problem!!. When i went in for the carb rebuild, there was so much saw dust on the screen in the carb i could not even see itDo these things normally have a fuel filter on them? IMG_20140408_120832_649.jpg

Poured out the tank and look what I found.

What is the plastic fitting for? The tiny fuel line didnt go over the filter end well but I squeezed it on. Still dont know where that adapter goes? Thought that it went on the small line then a larger hose on the big end then to fuel filter but that makes no sense as the small end and filter are same size IMG_20140408_162005_730.jpg

The small fitting goes on the end of the return line.
It's just to keep the line from pulling out of the tank.
