Finally wore the old thing out. Was a wedding gift many moons ago. Bought a new one and ready to trash the PC POS thing already. OMG! It doesn't get nearly as warm, the blower is about half speed, the measure cup is smaller, and then to top it off there is about a 10 minute thermal protection reset so doing a double batch is a 1/2 hour job. Do any of you have newer popcorn air poppers that don't suck, and what are they?
X2.... the only way to pop. Even tho I can’t eat much popcorn anymore. The fact that my wife Fire Flake (girlfriend back then) had a pot just for popcorn and prepared the tasty snack correctly was about 15% of the reason I knew early on that she was the “One” She also could make real mashed potatoes about as darned gooder as her future MIL’s...
I like doing a jiffy pop over the hot coals in the fireplace from time to time... But for a quick bag of healthy popcorn,I put a 1/4 cup of loose kernels inside a smaller brown paper bag, netly fold rhe rop over a few times and pop it in the microwave. No oil or butter needed, pops up just fine. Then I'll melt some real butter and drizzle it over the popcorn...
Walmart had a real neat popcorn popper for the microwave. It was a bowl with a vented lid. Add just popcorn and put it in the microwave. Usually popped all the kernels. Left too long though, it would burn.
Have the bowl woodwodow describes, works real nice, put a bunch of butter in it with some kernels and bingo
Had an air popper back in the day but the wife got rid of it because we weren't using it much anymore. I kind of wish we still had it now reading this thread. If you have the make/model of your old one, do an internet search. I have had good luck finding NOS for out of date products over the past several years.
I'm not sure which model air popper we have. Bought it for one of the kids Christmas gift a handful of years back. Takes about 7-10 mins and will full a large bowl. Its red if that helps identify it?
Got a wood stove????............................... Real simple...................K.I.S.S. principal in action !!!!!!!!
Mama Bear ordered a different one-we will see how pretty it is vs actual function- I was thinkin goin on ebay and finding a old made in USA 1976 from an old lady estate hardly used one and burn the place down with no thermal reset protection.
I need to add.....one of our grand daughters stayed with us this summer and we hit a bunch of garage/estate sales. She found an air popper at one, so we grabbed it. Got it cleaned up, and she used it a few times while she was here. The directions said to use more popcorn than was needed, so the 1st time produced a LOT of popcorn. She had fun with it.
damm you guys are good at getting people to part with their cash, and not just on firewood related items. I’ve used a whirly popper for years and love it but always had a soft spot for the wear ever popcorn pumper we had when I was a kid. Well wouldn’t you know it, just so happened upon one on eBay. Wife should be happy I’m adding more appliances to our tiny kitchen. Hey, I’m trying to eat healthier so it’s totally justifiable because I don’t have to use oil anymore!
Grape seed oil is the best (we found it a few years ago), so technically you can go back to oil- Jus’ sayin’
