Lots of pine around here(Trinity Alps) because it's not liked. In my new Blaze King, I get long burns with the pine so I'm happy with the easy pickings.

Nothing wrong with standing dead Lodgepole or ponderosa pine. I prefer Lodgepole, it's easy to process and one of the best shoulder season woods.

Beautiful area where you are was well. Been up there many times, sasquatch hunting lol. We rented a cabin in Weaverville a few years ago.

Burn pine, it's fine, and like you said, there's a lot of it there.

Compare costs! Pine can be a big money saver and give you the warmth you require or desire.

    Makes great kindling too!

I always have a few splits on hand as well. Helps get things going when the stove is cold.

Pine is fine as long as it's dry.

I have been burning some Ponderosa Pine the last 10 days or so. I can’t complain about it.

Yep lots of us west coast folks burn pine all winter long and manage to stay warm without burning the house down.
