Well I finally got my axe on some Western Washington pine after letting the cut up rounds sit for almost 2 years on my sidewalk. I tried splitting it manually with a Fiskars x27 axe and an 8 lb maul. Almost all rounds absorbed the blows like a sponge w/o a crack. Brought my friend's 27 ton splitter over last night and even it had trouble cracking them open. It did, of course, but man is that pulp stingy. It was knotty and gnarly. I am going to let that stuff dry for a couple years. Next time I am offered it, I am going to pass.

The only wood I’ve found my 28 ton DHT couldn’t get through was some big nasty pine rounds. It struggled through some of it. Refused a few then I blew a high pressure line on em. Into the woods they go.
    It’s a heck of a show when those lines pop ;) :)

I've never had trouble with eastern white pine beyond some splits going flying when they all of a sudden give into the forces. I've had some spruce though that was like trying to split rubber.
