On pignut hickory that is. Another good FBM score. Some smalls had been taken but a couple hickory trees still there. Taken down end of July. I had originally planned to go last weekend. Isocore and noodling were in order after i loaded some full sized rounds. Took the wood closest to the driveway. IMG_1700.JPG IMG_1703.JPG IMG_1699.JPG IMG_1701.JPG There was a couple logs mixed in the same pile that looked like basswood and sure enough it was. Took that too. Interesting to see three different species growing intertwined like this. White oak (biggest), sugar maple (smallest, and a popular spot for squirrels to sit and eat nuts) and basswood (hollow) IMG_1704.JPG The other hickory is bigger...21" DBH and primo straight grained so ill get that next trip. Seems most "average hoarders" hate bigger logs. IMG_1702.JPG IMG_1709.JPG IMG_1711.JPG Some sugar maple for the taking too. IMG_1708.JPG HEAVY load. Sure felt it on the 15 minute+ ride to storage. IMG_1705.JPG IMG_1706.JPG IMG_1707.JPG Ill be pigging out on the next trip there too!

The tailgate will get "upgraded" by the end of the year.

Can't go wrong with a nice score of hickory. As has been mentioned the Ford is squatting but in a good way unlike the Carolina squat.

You can take that tailgate off, set it arc side up & jump on it a few times to straighten it out a bit then put it back on. I have done it on a couple different tailgates.

I noticed the tailgate too brad:rofl:  My bed sides are starting to push out with a load so I have to make sure I have my tailgate shut before loading or the tailgate might not latch when I’m done. I imagine your ladder rack keeps that from happening.

I never considered that size to be too big. Yes they can be heavy but geeze... Suck it up and do some work. Even my wife never complained about that size. No, she did not lift them but would still move them to the trailer or splitter and enjoyed doing it.

You ever mill hickory Jason? It is some nice milling wood though. Hickory must be tough on chains when milling, no?

Its slowly getting worse. Right side doesnt latch. Ladder racks do help. Cage protects back window, the back bar does open but sometimes i still whack my noggin on it!:picard:
