Today was sunny and beautiful so I had a little picnic with the Mrs. Out back. Packed the yard cart. Set some chairs in the sun. Protected from the wind by a tree line behind us. I cleared a bunch of brush. Mostly sharp stuff. Buckthorn, multiflora rose and bittersweet. I got hooked on the roses a few time. One rose shrub was leggy, going up about 10 feet high and caught up in a dead spruce. Got them out with the lawn tractor and strap. Our son hauled the cut offs to the burn pile area. We set up right in the sunny area. The hickories filtered the sun nicely. Our son had his first try on the MS 170. Proper PPE and instructions. He is hooked now and did very well. I should have set some logs in the saw buck for the first try, but most cutting is out back. This is a small dead cherry that was hung up in vines. It would not drop and I had to piece it down a bit. We spent several hours out there. The Mrs. was completely happy soaking up the ray's and just enjoying the day. I really needed a break from house projects.
It looks like you had a great time fishingpol , if you had a day like we did, it was perfect for that type of outing.
Looks like you had a beautiful day! I started my son w/ a saw about 14 and now he’s very rarely home to help. We expect he won’t live here much longer as he’s looking for a place with a few buddies. Time flies, soak it all in while you can.
I was thinking along those thoughts just minutes ago. Our son called from PA. He and his wife just celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. Seems such a short time ago when I was getting him started with the saw.
I will admit, I need more time doing things like this. He is at the age of learning skills that we felt he was not quite ready for. Yesterday was fantastic weather. Yes, Dennis, you did meet him at the GTG. He is a bit bigger now.
It was a great day for a picnic and some cutting. Good to see your son taking an interest in chainsaw use and the importance of PPE.
