Have to admit I'm getting a touch of CAD. I find my self constantly scouring CL for saws now. Anyway I found a CS 6100 on the local CL! $350 Guy said it is almost new. Looks clean from the pics. Will find out for sure when I see it! Currently running a 450 rancher 20" with narrow kerf b&c. If I drop that to an 18" or even 16", could I put the 20 on the dolmar? The reason I ask is I have 3 chains fo it. Or will it cause the saw to over rev being its less work to turn? Or will I like the 3/8 and never look back? Im cutting mostly oaks and on very rare occasions the bar will be fully burried.

Husky 450 uses a Husky (small mount )ko95 bar and chain . probably running .325 pitch as well.
Dolmar 6100 uses Husky (large mount ) d009 bar and chain. Probably running 3/8 on that.
Keep the Dolmar 3/8 and the Husky .325

Yep the 6100 is small mount, it will run 24" 3/8 full comp buried in oak and hickory no problem. I would run the .325 if I had it around but I wouldn't go out of my way to run it over the 3/8
I hope it turns out to be a great deal. It is a really good saw.

Oh you will have to change your drive sprocket but that should be under $10 at your local chainsaw shop.

Welp I got duped! He "sold it to someone else" and tried to sell me a brand new ms 311 (I think it was a referb) for the same price. Not quite big enough from my research findings. I think I will still go with a Dolmar as I like their price point but now the ? Is 6100, or step up to 6400? It will be my bucking saw for sure, limbing duty will be left to the 450. I plan on ordering log loads and trying to sell some with a buddy if that helps sway an opinion. Run with a 20" and have a 24" if needed. Oh I've CAD what should I do?

I picked the 6100 over the 6400. Main reason if I had a 6400 I could not keep myself from upgrading it to a 7900 then again "needing" a 60cc saw.

Mine wears a 24" for now. Same price as the 20" but I will pick up a 20" as soon as I can afford it and keep the 24 when needed.
Here is a thread I started on the 6100.

bucking saw i would go with a 6400. the extra weight wont an issue and the extra hp/torque will be a good thing bucking rounds especially with a 24" bar.
