Pete...don't have one but it looks like a pretty decent stove for that price. Large hopper and convection blower. I guess really the only issue would be getting parts for it if you would need to. The price seems pretty good to and maybe you could knock a bit off of that.

I gave you my 2 pennies on it before you left. Make sure you check what type of heat exchange system it has. This plays a huge role in the stove. One of the most important attributes, other than how it burns (good airflow).

A good heat exchanger is a must. A firebox that just has air blown around it will leave most people over firing the stove and getting poor results in heating.

For the price, that may be a great deal? If you only need it for a short time every day, it may work up to your standards.

Cheapest price I've seen for that model new is around $1000, so that's a good price if it's a decent performer. Don't think you could go wrong for $400, or less.

Make sure the owner fires it up long enough for the convection blower to come on (use medium heat setting to start)......you can get an idea how hot the air coming out is then.

I took a look at the ad........the other question that seems to be looming over this stove is: If the owner says it "works great", then why is he selling it? He's not moving, as his ad states he'll keep the stove to heat his garage if nobody meets his price. hmmmmmm

He does state it needs a new gasket for the comb. blower, as it was torn during removal. If he only used it a short time, why was the blower removed?

    Questions, questions.......

That's what scares me. He had it for just over one season and wants to sell it before this season.

With no tube type exchanger and 30K BTU?

Most likely wasn't capable of doing the heat duties as it is a bit small.

I'd be checking for sign's of being over fired just to be safe!!

Not even a whole season....he bought & installed it in Feb. 2014. Could only have been used for 2 1/2 - 3 months, tops.

Oh, and as for him removing the comb. blower, here was his reason:
"I t was torn during removal to clean fan due to factory getting silicone caulk on it."

    hmmmmmm

I'd mainly ask why he is selling it?

Is it to small for his home size and heating requirement?

I do see one "fly in the ointment" when you go see it. He stated the comb. blower gasket needed to be replaced because it was torn.....will he say that's the reason he can't start the stove up ?

I would say that because its going to be run outside. Not a big deal if it leaks. Bolt on the fan an run it as is!! ;)

Pete, As long as this has a back up heat source and you don't require a heat monster. It should be a decent little heater. But I would expect the need for tinkering to keep it chugging.

If you want a set and forget unit that requires little fuss? This might not be the one.

I'll get some pics up sometime this week fellas! I bought it and man it's a nice unit.... Weather or not it can heat the house is a non issue for me. If it doesn't I'll sell it but it should be good for supplemental heating while we are gone. Thanks for the tips DexterDay imacman jtakeman guess I'm venturing into the pellet world...

I just got home from the gtg so I am gonna wait to do any more with it I'm ready to drop. 4hrs to AC's place ( pit stop for the stove ) 2 hrs home ( pit stop for a Honda 500cc motorcycle...) lol

    You just got home?

We can wait for an update on the stove bro!

    Get some rest!!

It was nice to meet you and hang with you this past weekend.

If you only need it for when the wood stove dies (2-8 hrs) this unit should do fine until you or your wife get home.

It can run off of a t-stat, correct? If so, set the temp for a few degrees below what your house normally runs at.

Also, you need to do a good cleaning on it. Find the air path through the stove (the air gets from the firebox, to the exhaust blower through a small passage (or several, depending on the unit) and clean all the fly ash out of it. An air compressor and a blow nozzle with a 12" length of small copper hose works well for this.

    Congrats!

Just make sure that the small air passage is clean. The firebox may be clean, but if that exhaust path is plugged (ash gets cakey) then you will have a bad experience with your first pellet stove.

A clean stove is a happy stove! Burning a plugged pellet stove is gonna be similar to running a wood stove with wet unseasoned wood, and a chitty draft (no heat and crappy flame).

I'd blast it with air anyways, just because.

Most of us use leaf blowers to clean our stoves and they push from 200 MPH to 300 MPH wind. That 65 MPH down the highway may have helped, but pellet ash is fine and can get "build up" (see cakey comment above ;) )

Congrats and keep us updated. Any pics? You know the rules. . ;)

Thx good to know info there.... pics tonight after I get home my friends! Quick question though how much vent pipe should I use? The manual says 2" from the wall and 6" outside off the house? ?? That doesnt seem like enough to me!
