This season we seem to have lost a few more pellet mills. Eden pellets seems to be the latest closure. I have also heard the Kentucky Kernel closed their doors over the summer. Heard of any others?
Technically Inferno's. Mill shutdown due to a fire, But they have re-entered the market with Inferno Gold's. Not made at the mill that had the fire. Re bagged pellets from another mill. Eden was most likely of poor quality. Lots of crappy reviews from what I have read. Not sure why Kentucky Kernel, I though they were decent. Most common issue I have seen over the years has been mill fires.
I doubt the fire itself was the reason they didn't rebuild.....it had to be the HUGE piles of ash and fines where their "feedstock" (old pallets) used to be. They just couldn't get equipment big enough to clear them..... To all the pellet newbies in the forum this year, be glad you never burned them......oh, the horror!
I somehow stumbled across a craigslist posting in PA. of a mill that was closed and was going to be auctioned off in November. Either intact with equipment, or if it did not sell, equipment would be auctioned. Which mill was that? You guys know?
You referring to this one? http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/threads/who-wants-their-own-pellet-plant.7339/
That would be the TreeCycle mill. I would love to own that mill, But unfortunately the location isn't the best. The main reason that mill closed was do to being to close to a residential area and it drew several complaints and petition's which eventually force them to close.
25k to sit down at the table seems really light Could you imagine a crane & wrecking ball going to work on that clinker? Ray
LOFL. It's especially handy when I find money in a pocket I forgot I had! Sometimes after it has been through the wash and put away and sat for a while before I wore it again! YEA!
I'm glad someone was paying attention. CRS has me!! The GAP mill was in a good location. It was pizz poor management that got them. I do remember the sales guy well, Jeff Nichols. Good dude!!
You are correct ,Jay . Jeff is a good dude , I remember him getting samples to you for testing, I don't know him personally , but he seemed like the kind of guy who went above and beyond for the company, don't know what happened there.
