Hi there, I am getting ready to place an order for more pellets. So far I have taken other's advise and tried different ones. So far I have tried Forest Pride, Dry Creek and Okanagan Gold. They now have in stock the Okanagan Platinum and EasyBlaze. Has anyone used the last two and can give me some feedback? I'll probably get a few if each again, but would like to hear others thoughts in them. Thanks.
Jersey, you beat me to the punch. Thanks for the order by the way. I was about to ask the guys here if they've burned or heard anything about EasyBlaze yet? I set a couple bags aside for Steve. We just landed a truckload of them and want to get some feedback. I just dropped a bag in the hopper this morning. Here's the specs that were provided to us. 95% Yellow Pine 5% Hardwood .35% ash < .5% Fines 5.2% moisture content BTU rating of 8600-8800 I'm interested to know what you guys / gals think so we can decide on whether to bring more in. $259 / Ton Cash $269 / Ton Credit Card-Paypal $5.50 / bag Thanks
The specs sure do look good! Enough to entice me into testing a few bags anyway...Never seen them around here though (yet)! Looking forward to seeing a review from Steve!
BTpellet.com and South Shore pellets have them up in your neck of the woods. Both places had good things to say about them. Their pricing varies quite a bit.
I agree with ttdberg that the specs look good. Can't wait to hear some real world experiences though.
Looks very promising Joe at a nice price I may have to cruise down your way next week and pick up 10 or so for myself
I think what we're seeing here is no one has heard of them but the specs have us all very curious. Especially at your prices. I know I'd be checking them out but there's probably not a chance in hell they'll ever show up in Maine.
Jersey, I apologize. I didn't intend to hijack your thread. To answer your question, the Okie Platinums are a few bucks more than the others, but they've been nice to have on those colder nights. The Okie Doug firs are the nicest pellets we've ever burned. Unfortunately they're hard to come by. If you haven't tried the AWF WPs yet, you should definitely give them a test drive. I'll let you know how the EasyBlaze performed when you pick up your order.
I grabbed a few bags of the EasyBlaze pellets on Sunday from Joe. This was my first experience with the "softwood" pellets. I was very impressed with the heat output from my stove. I have been burning Hamer Hot Ones all this season. These EasyBlaze have a great pine smell! The ash is light and my stove and glass stayed pretty clean. For the $$ I would definitely use these again. Thanks Joe (Paul from Perkasie)
Burned 2 Bags of the Okanagan Platinums from BuckPellets . 1st time with a Softwood. Extreme low ash, nice smell and I always put my hand at least 6" or more away from the top vent to see if I get the Scalded hand effect.. Yep..these we're Hot as can be... My only complaint is with a Harman P61A, I have a huge burnpot so each turn of the Auger dumps lot of pellets in if they are small like the Platinums. lowering the feed rate any lower than #3 With a Harman on a cold cold night is self defeating as I may not get to my set temp.. My not well Insulated 90 yr old house has a pretty quick heat loss when stove ramps down. Great expirience though for my 1st dip into a Softwood... Thanks Joe..
But he may not have burned any of them ,kinda like me with my 30 bags of PTL softies ,I'm saving them
Up my way oakie platinum are $10 more a ton than oakie golds and worth it. Awf wp when dealer carried them was same price as oakie gold, id burn oakie gold if priced the same. However awf wp have been at big box for ~250 $50 a ton less than oakie gold i go with awf wp
Yes.. your right... forgot.. and yes, I am hoarding them for now....only burned 2 bags out of 30. won't be cold enough anymore to use them this year. heard the longer Blazers sit, the more they age and get even hotter.. so hot that you don't have to even light them.. just put a bag in your living room and instant heat.
If you're running in stove mode, then yes, you'll get hot and have to turn the stove down. If you're in room temp mode it shouldn't make a difference, the stove will adjust the feed rate to keep the set temp.
