Paper Shredder for identity theft?

In my last home of over 21 years I used to throw papers and mail that could be used for identity theft into my Schrader. For better or worse, it was quite convenient.

My new home has a cat blaze king and we are replacing the other woodstove with pellet. From what I understand I should not burn paper in them. Is that correct?

My next thought was to burn them outside or buy a shredder. I will either have a stack of paper until dear husband has time to burn them laying around, or a paper shredder to store and the ones in my price range will take forever to get through my needs.

    Suggestions please?

I personally use a 55 gallon barrel about twice a year.

I toss in the trash, but I burn all my trash.

You could burn it in a cast iron skillet, if you have one.

We quit burning paper in the stove when we got the Fireview. We have had a paper shredder for quite some time and it does come in handy. It is a small unit that sits right on top a waste basket. Not super fast but fast enough for our use.

    Edit:

A few sheets of paper to get a fire going isn't an issue with the BK stove, but I'd guess it'd take forever to get rid of all the normal bills/paperwork. I think they say not to burn junk like that because the inks and chemicals in teh paper aren't good fro teh CAT.

I do shred some things with a cross cut shredder, but for things like CC applications, I take them to the land fill. There is this huge dozer with huge steal wheels that piles up the trash just as soon as I drive away. They mix it with dirt right on the spot. A huge flock of seagulls pick at the mess. No one stays around long without getting bombed with chit.

We use a shredder. Since my wife is in the legal field she has a lot more that needs a shredder than what a normal household would use. The shredded paper usually goes to recycling afterwards.

Wife picked up a cheap paper shredder this year. Works fine for us.

We've broke the plastic housing on cheap shredders that go over a can. I've since bought a better one with its own can. Seems to be better quality and is holding up well.

You can buy a good shredder for not a lot of $. I wouldn't bother with a cross-cut.

Some communities have days where a shredder truck comes in...you toss a whole trash bag full of whatever documents and in 30 seconds it is dust....for free.

I burn outside in my stick and branch pile. Just save it in a box then burn it.

I wonder if that is part of our problem, dear husband used coke and beer boxes to get the fire going most of last winter :)

There are a few are a few of these on our new property, rusted or not I bet they will work fine. I don't think we need burn permits here. Thank you

Thank you Nate, I think this is our best option! We have a trash compactor that really helps us, we will be nice to burn sensitive documents and stinky produce instead letting it "ripen" in the horse trailer with other trash, DH puts trash in there and takes it to the dump a few times a year.

You are lucky to have such quick covering in your landfill. In our old landfill (less windy than here) there were reports of cc applications being blown away and used fraudulantly. And I personally witnessed another resident pick up one of the catalogs my husband discarded before he was even done emptying the trailer! (We had a home business with annual catalogs and were disposing of the previous year).
