I really want to do two things with the Baby Bear this spring/summer. 1) get my baffle in. 2) paint the trees and logo. ...so how have you guys painted them? and what color of Stove Brite did you use? There is no way I am going to mask it all off and spray it. So, hand paint? brush? roller? my cat's tail? Thanks.
I'm thinking the same exact thing. I'm figuring I'll use a modeling paint brush with a fine tip and silver stove brite?
Ha there was a story on the news the other morning about a cat that had to rescued because it’s tail froze into a pond or lake or something. Must have been one slow cat
What about spraying high temp silver into a small jar then using a small paintbrush to do the trees? I think that's how my dad used to do it.
I painted the door on my moma bear with a firm mini foam roller. Just lightly rolled over the top of it and turned out great. The stove was painted with stove bright satin, for the silver I used some paint I had around nothing special. That was few years ago still looks good.
Okay...the mini foam roller makes sense...did you use a high heat paint? I was thinking maybe buy a can of silver Stove Brite and spray it on the roller then apply it to the trees and logo???
No high heat just some rustolium silver I had. The door doesn’t get nearly as hot as the rest of the stove.
1/1 Not a real good picture... My old Sierra had the door scene painted, from the factory I assume. It looked as good after 20 years of burning as it did when it was bought used.
Our old Schrader at previous home had similar raised trees on the doors, we repainted it 3 times over the next 20 years with Stove Brite. We had it sandblasted when we got it and painted it black. Then went cream color (always looked kinda dirty) so eventually repainted black again. The black we we could find back then was flat finish and had a bit of metallic in it. There is a pellet head that painted his pellet stove pipe and it looked gloss enamel which I REALLY liked, maybe imacman can let us in on his secret of if that paint is safe for wood stoves too. There is a ton of craft ideas coming across my facebook mentioning different application techniques, all kinds of crazy application techniques stuff!. I wonder if you could create a slide for the raised parts, kinda like level shims with a mounted brush or cat tail or ? and slide it back and forth to keep the depth uniform?
No, Aluminum silver oxide boiler paint from Ace Hardware and a sponge brush. I'll dig it out and take a pic later today for you Found this! Exact same stuff, newer label, I just had an older can. Ace Interior/Exterior Chrome Aluminum Paint - 1/2 Pint - Ace Hardware & Home Centre, Maldives
shack, I just took the doors off and laid them flat and slowly painted them with a sponge brush. The paint is thin so "take your time" But it'll "never" burn off. Good stuff and good looking.
