Sooo, There is a big dead Ash between my house and my neighbor. Houses are maybe 40 feet apart and there are power lines to deal with. I'm looking for a little help to get this thing down before it comes down on our house. Neighbors dont want the wood so if i get it down its all mine, and its big. The question.... Are there any climbers, or other peeps willing to volunteer to help get it down. Thinking of a GTG type thing. I'll take some pictures tomorrow. Eric VW get my back and fill in the dots for me brother, i know ill be missing some folks in my tags. TurboDiesel , Barcroftb, Scotty Overkill cwn877
Where are you at again, Bob Dog? I'm sure blacksmith and I could make a trip out some weekend for a mini-meet. Get me some pics.
To far away from their right of way.... just our service cables. We probably will call for them to disconnect first though.
I wish this worked.... PA FHC Members But alas, I don’t know if there’s a way to create a “group” tag... but of course, Scotty Overkill could probably talk that Ash down! Where’s UncleJoe? Greg be working with some tree peeps too....
So here are the pics and like i said its a biggee. The white house is mine and the tree is in the neighbors yard. Its an EAB victim and its shedding progressively larger branches. Probably about 36" dia. at the base. I'm thinking we would rent a chipper and if needed i could probably get a big lift..... If this is too much for a GTG type thing I'll let the neighbors know the need to get a tree service out to take care of it. TIA
Do I see vines all over that thing? If so, get them chopped and pulled away, all the way around, so the tree can be seen.
some vine, but there are suckers ll over the tree. most of it is dead but there are bits still hanging on.
If you pull vines, be careful of widowmakers. If it’s already shedding branches, pulling vines will drop more.
Get all the house services and communication drops taken down for the day. Then try to get in there and get a good look under all that ivy. It wouldn’t be terrible after that just a ton of chipper food! Get a decent size chipper if your going to get one. You will be much happier!!
That doesnt look too bad. If i were closer, id take it down for you. Im too far out for such a mini vacation at this time though.
We dont have access to NG here and doing the remodel i switched all the appliances to propane. I need that fluid surface area just in case they all hit at once.... 80K BTU furnace, 200K BTU tankless water heater, 40K BTU Clothes dryer, and a 50K BTU Range.
I would think that you could cut one of those appliances out of the equation. If you’re home, the furnace isn’t going to kick on due to running a wood or pellet stove? If you just got home, the furnace might be running but you wouldn’t be running the dryer until a load of wash got done, and in the mean time you are getting your alternate heating appliance going. I might be missing something simple like it being required by code. Or maybe you use enough propane to justify the having that capacity. Sure looks different having 4 100 gallon tanks lined up. I’m sure it is convenient not having to worry about firing up all appliances at once.
