This is a new old stock Stihl 041 Super top end kit that includes the cylinder, piston, rings, wrist pin and retainer clips. It is the double-ring, 48mm set. It is in the original box, but assuming it was sealed in plastic at some point that is MIA. I don’t like ‘make offer’ ads any better than the next guy, but I just don’t know what a fair price (for both buyer & seller) is for this and I’m not quite ready to leave its fate to eBay since I try to avoid further lining that monster’s pockets! So, if anyone is interested and would like to make a fair offer please feel free to do so via PM please. Not that I’m inviting lowball offers, but the fact is that the worst I can do is say “no”. I’m willing to consider partial or full trade offers in case someone has something I could use or flip. My main criteria are that trades would need to be Stihl brand and chainsaw related. Preferred payment method is PayPal “Friends or Family” or add 3% to the total for processing fees. Thanks for looking!
I'd love to have this kit but I'm tight for funds at the moment.......I have some stuff to barter if you like? I've got an older 046 that needs TLC. It needs a P/C and also the handle is cracked but it's all there and has good spark..... Also lots of Stihl 015T's and some other odds and ends. Couple of project 075AV's, etc.
[QUOTE="Scotty Overkill, I've got an older 046 that needs TLC. It needs a P/C and also the handle is cracked but it's all there and has good spark..... I might be intrested in a little project saw. Three way trade maybe.
I'm up for bartering on this one. Not interested in the little top handles, but PM me some pics & whatever you can tell me about the 046 & 075s. Maybe we can work something out.
I'd like a shot at this if you don't make a deal with the first responders. I have a 041AV that I'd love to breath new life into. Thanks, Brett.
If you buy this kit, keep in mind you'll need cylinder studs to use this cylinder on your standard 041AV. I've seen them on ebay off and on. Standard 041 and 041AV uses small hex head screws that hold only the base of the cylinder to the crankcase, 041AV Super uses studs that hold the whole cylinder down to the crankcase.....
Scotty's right, the conversion takes the studs & I don't know off hand if they're NLA from Stihl or not, but I can check when I get home. And for the record it is still available.
If its like going from 051 to 076, you also have to drill & tap case from 5mm to 6mm which is simple.
SquareFile no modifications needed. The 041AV Super stud is the same thread/size as the standard 041 cylinder screw. I've built several 041AV to AV Super conversions. Very easy swap. Makes a noticeable difference in power too. I run a 28" bar and standard chain on mine and it pulls it all day long with ease. I did a DP muffler mod as well.. .
