Looking at the Norwood HD36 mill. I like what I have seen in the advertising and on clips from Youtube. I have a project upcoming that this will be purchased for. It is paid work, but I will have the mill once the job is finished. Plan on getting the hydraulic package with the log loader, leveler and rotating setup. Once the log is at the mill, the only manual labor is removing the plank. Looks like it is going to run around 18k. Any other mills that I should entertain, or does anyone here have experience with the Norwood?
Good for you! Extreme jealousy! Take a look at the Woodmizer , too. I've had a little experience with them and it's been all positive. I've also heard good things about TK and Norwood
I went on the Woodmizer site and built one similar. Best of my recollection is the cost was mid-20s. TK is Timberking? Have not entertained that one. I was traveling the central part of the country and returning via upstate NY for college visits with my son. The Norwood facility was in upstate NY, so I stopped in. The people were great and seemed like they would be there if I needed support. The only complaint I heard of in researching this was that the table had issues flexing with very large logs. Don't know what to make of that. Don't know that it concerns me too much. Biggest question is how am I going to store the wood and what should I be cutting dimensionally? Most likely will put up some pvc tent poles and heavy plastic sheeting. Neighbors gonna love that! Almost forgot the price included a gadget to make tapered cuts for siding/shingles.
Buddy of mine owned a TimberKing about 10 years ago- had all the features you listed.... Would handle up to 32-36" diam. logs 12 or so feet long. Think he payed $20k for it..... Worked great. He ran if for a few years, moved out of state working on the now defunct Keystone, so he sold it....
