So I have a new listening thing on youtube. Got recommended some 'air checks' probably due to my afinity for department store Muzak. lol Nother story. Anyways...Air Checks led to recordings of radio air play and or pre recorded stuff. I like music from the 60s and 70s which are mostly what I have listened to so far. Mostly AM radio out of LA & NYC. Good station out of Detroit also. I was listening to one the other day from the day of (or shortly after) the moon landing. Kindof neat to get to relive that day by what the people heard on the radio. Coincidentally, they were also talking about Ted Kennedy's 'car accident' which must have happened at the same time. Very cool. I enjoy the commercials as much as I do the songs and DJ banter. Truly a different time in the USA. Previously I have been known to listen to Old Radio Programs from the 30s & 40s. The site I used to go to for that also had news broadcasts from CBS during D-day. So I have 'listened' to the invasion as it happened. Very neat. I'm kindof into history, so I enjoy that type of thing. This might be the one with the moon landing & Kennedy... Edit...yep there in the thumbnail...day after moon landing.
There is a youtube channel that is going to D-Day in it's entirety on the 6th. Real time reporting as it happens in the "fog of war" https://www.youtube.com/@WorldWarTwo they have been doing the entire war as it happens for the last several years. Since you mentioned it, thought I'd share it.
Got a new one for you all...I was addicted to this site a few years ago. Not an aircheck, but a 1950 radio entertainment program. They have thousands of these old shows available...any and all genra. This one is a favorite. The Earth Abides. "If you should wake to a man-dead world, where virtually all human life had been dissolved from the face of the earth, leaving behind only buildings, bridges, machines, if you should awake to such a world tomorrow morning... what would you do? where would you go?" Great story! Earth Abides Ep01of02 | Escape | Thriller | Old Time Radio Downloads part 2. (not on old time radio anymore...had to get another source) RadioEchoes.com
