My dad was cleaning out a garage at my uncles and dug up this old sign from my grandpa's saw shop wayy back in the day. Sure brought back alot of memories of him although i wasn't around when he had the shop. The smile on my dads face says it all. :)
He also found an Oregon thermometer that still works and actually has a glass front.

Is 7-8961 the phone number? Or is that an address?

I would bet that it is a phone number. I remember when we had to start dialing three digit prefix for neighboring towns instead of one digit. We thought that was a real pain at the time - now have to dial area code plus all seven digits to make a call and think nothing of it. I also remember when we would pick up the phone and have to wait for someone else to finish a conversation before we could make a call. We have some of the original old phone lines along some of our fence rows - just a long osage orange pole with some bare wire strung through an insulator.

Nice find with the saw shop sign! Always good to have reminders of where we came from and who had a part in us getting to where we are.

So I just had to dig up this old thread. A friend of my dad was browsing ebay for vintage saw stuff and noticed this repro tin sign. He thought it looked awfully familiar haha. He actually bought one and gave it to my dad today. They must've got the image from my post here and removed my grandpas name and turned it into a tin sign. Not sure why they left the phone number though.
