Long long ago....my first brand new chainsaw finally needed some serious repairs. It was a Husqvarna 350..which I'm restoring as we speak.

So faced with a big repair bill...I decided to just buy a new saw to replace it..and maybe repair the 350 later. The saw I chose was a Husqvarna 450 . 50th anniversary badging ..how cool ! It came with a soft case and hat too..which I still have lol.
I used it a few years before I bought a new Husqvarna 570..
My older brother needed a saw..so I sold him my trusty 450. That was many years ago .
So a few days ago....he bought a new saw...and wanted to get rid of the 450...which didnt run well anymore. So I couldn't resist ...I bought it back as is. I little time with my special carb adjusting tool...and I've got it running pretty well .
Gonna take and clean it up..put it up on my top shelf next to the 350. Good reminders where I came from...and how my saw mentality has progressed since I first began trying to cut wood with hand me down saws with messed up chains !

Sorry for the long winded post ! It's not often a fella gets something back that he once has had !

I got my 350 put away. I rebuilt it and did like 3 cuts with it, cleaned, drained and now is just a personal museum piece. (still runs like a champ and is useable I'm just wierd :wacky:)

I bought a new 450 as my first brand new chainsaw. Used it a few times and ended up being severely disappointed, sold it. No desire to go back there but.. couple years ago a good friend found the Jonsered equivalent of a 445. It had a roached top end so I put the 50cc piston/cylinder on it making it a red 450, and gave it to dad. He’ll more than likely never use it again so some day it’ll find its way back here.

Not weird to me ! I'm thinking of doing the same thing.
I was thinking I was pretty silly too. I'm doing a full rebuild. Piston...crank seals...carb boot upgrade..muffler support upgrade etc.
I was torn between running and tuning it..putting a tank through it then cleaning it up like you......and just putting it together and leaving it at that.

I've learned that when it comes to the heart..things usually cannot be explained lol !

You have a pic of the old 350 ? I'd love to see it.
Here's where mine is right now. Coming along. Going slow..as I ripped this apart abt 10 years ago I'm guessing lol

Love that yours will come back too !
I didnt know how slow my old 450 was..till i got my 570 . Then I really figured it out when my wife gifted me a new 562xp ! I'll never turn back now !

But ill never look down on the saws i started with ! Whenever I'm having a bad day...I think abt where I started. I'm good where I'm at !!!

Just looked...I think the only ones I had were on the phone that I dropped into the river. It's somewhere in the Chainsaw pics thread, but I have no idea where to look. It don't look showroom anymore, but not bad at all for being 26 years old. It's special to me for several reasons. I owned an Echo before I got the 350. The 350 came when I really started to saw on some trees. A cherished memory is of the 350 outcutting the Prosumer ~60cc Stihls that two of my buddies bought and later sold. lol I'll look a little more to see if I can find the most recent pics. Google might have saved copies.

    There it is.

Great job HF. Im sure it brings a smile to your face every time you see it.

Kinda wish I never threw away my original circa 1985 Stihl 028 that had a scored piston. The only thing I have is the original handle that hangs in the shop.

I've got the Jonsered equivalent of the Husqvarna 350 and although I don't have much trigger time on it yet, I really like it so far. Very light and ergonomic. I don't have a 450 but my 455 has been good to me so far. I have yet to sell a chain saw and miss it, but I do miss some of the old cars I've sold (foolishly in hindsight). Nice that you were able to get reacquainted with yours.
