Good review! I bought a ton of these when I bought my stove. A good burning pellet, but IMHO, a bit pricey. Ive burned some stuff from the big box store that's the same for heat output. And much less expensive.

That's kind of where I'm at. I can get same heat (or more) and less ash with pellets that are $70 a ton less. They still are a good pellet just too pricey for my pocketbook.

Just my thoughts ,but I find it interesting for those of us who never had the opportunity to burn softwoods ,before this year, the perception was they were the Holy Grail of pellets .

Well maybe ,there are pellets in our own back yard that are equal or better than the high priced stuff, Think about it

As we always say your mileage may vary :D

I'd like to see them head to head with Blazers. I don't see how any pellet can be much better than them.

Ok slvrblkk... I will give you a late Xmas present... on the next load that I send to Bucks, I will throw on a couple of bags each of Okie Platinums and Douglas Fir....then you can see what softwoods from the west coast are all about and see why a lot of people in NE tend to think they are the holy grail of pellets. As far as the price is concerned, having to ship from as far as we do in Upton MA...then basically hauling them back into PA is really expensive since the farther you go, the more it costs. Bucks hasn't gotten that many loads from us, but they seem to sell very well when he does get them. Blazers are a good pellet...but wait till you try our Douglas Fir.... its really not a fair fight, since any Douglas Fir pellets (especially those from OR) will be in a league of their own compared to just about anything else...you have seen the reviews... I don't make this stuff up... here is wishing everyone health and happiness in the New Year....sincerely.. Mr. Warm.

Thanks Doug....I am absolutely looking forward to burning those DF's!!! I know those bad boys are top shelf but I've never been able to get my hands on them, they just don't make it here.....yet.

In my P68, the PTL Softies and the Blazers are close, but I have to give the nod to the PTL Softies. Score of the season for me, especially given the price - with the Blazers a close second. Can't wait to see what the formal test results look like.

Geez Doug, Curious to what changed you mind? But glad you had a change of heart. Steve will get a kick out of the DF's for sure.

This darn quiting chit has me all screwed up. I haven't dared to drink a brew even!!

I got to get to them and the Pure Fires too. Gonna try cleaning the stove tomorrow(deep clean as I'm over a ton now) and toss em in. I can't do the samples in the lab as The shop is locked shut untill the 5th. But I can do the basics for now!!
