I’ve had a few cups of coffee this morning and started thinking about used saw buying.
When shopping for used saws, Stihl and Husqvarna, where are the oem markings on the cylinders? Are they plainly visible without removing covers? Do the locations change over the years? Mostly concerned with older Stihls and 2-3 series Husqvarnas. Pics would be great if you have them.
I’ll look at my saws later and see if I can locate markings.

Stihl 044 is obvious after pulling the cover.

Husq 262 had to pull the cover and I’m guessing genuine but not original, because of the B?

034S has no markings I could see and looks suspiciously clean.

371 mahle is clearly visible without removing anything.

272 had to pull cover and it has 3 plus symbols.

Somehow I ended up with a brandy new KS 272 cylinder, I’m out of town, but as soon as I get home I’ll post a pic of it. I might have a Gilardoni cylinder as well in my pile that I’ll snap a pic of and post. You pretty much have Mahle covered….

Harder to tell on some Stihls as the oem markings are lower on the transfers, behind the case and recoil.
    Mahle
    Gilardoni
    Kolbenshmidt (K$ symbol)
    Stihl
are all oem manufacturers and will have markings. Most AM cylinders have nothing written on them aside from a single letter or number, and the colors of them are usually one off.

The “B” on your cylinder is for piston sizing. There were A, B, and C with A being smaller

I won’t know until I see it. Might check out a flea market to see what’s available.
