Cruising FB marketplace last night , I see this.

So, I politely message my usuals.. I heat my family with firewood and would be more than willing to clean that up, I just can’t afford to pay to do it. That’s a lot of heavy wood...
And Yahtzee, she replies, it’s yours. Pics did not do it justice, at all! Horeey sheet! Huge oak tree. I took the EC346 w/ an 18 for noodles. Did fine I just should have had at least the 365sp. Tomorrow will be a different story! The husband was home when I left and he gave me the ok to get the rest of it, so I’m going back every day till it’s all had. Also asked if I want to take more off the stump. That’ll be 394 territory. The neighborhood will love me, lol!
Anyway, here’s load one. I unloaded one piece before I remembered the loaded truck pic. I hit bump stops at least half a dozen times on the way hone. Didn’t feel like getting the compressor out to air up the bags.

I’m stoked! My stacks will be 85% oak after next years burn. Just one mulberry tree mixed in.

I've been very selective! I think maybe 3 more [over sized] loads should get it. I hope the weather cooperates. Going to take my cant hook too. I tried standing one of the fuller size rounds that was laying flat up so I could cut it. No Bueno. Maybe a digging iron too. Did I mention they're heavy!

Yes I did. Even then some of them were a tad heavy. I'm trying to be smarter with the elbow and back issues so the next loads I will knock them down smaller. No need to put it on kill.

Been a while since ive cut large oak. I cringe at the thought of its weight. Fills the PU up mighty fast though! Nice to be selective as i know. Around here there is a lot of wood i dont take. Easy splitting my main MO of course. Watch your back my friend....were not Spring chickens anymore!

True story! I got a nice new back brace and I'm wearing the compression sleeves on my elbows.
Red oak doesn't get any easier to split! And it lasts so long in the firebox. I'm gettin' all excited already! Lol. :stack::stack::stacker:

Nice score wood wolverine! The red oak heats so much better and so much longer. You must feel so good having such a stash of it Way to persist as it’s paying off now in BTUs!:) I mean my word.....it looks like they even had it cut up in rounds for you! I bet it still wasn’t easy though....some heavy stuff for sure!

It was a home-owner listing. Why am I so drawn to the really big stuff? Glutton for punishment?o_O

I'll do a guess the weight on a block I noodle. It's dense!

Yes they did have it bucked. Looking at the add pics, I was fooled to think my 18" bar would be good to go. I needed at least a 20", 24" would have been best as I was unable to get through most of them with 18. They're larger than they look.

I also saw that ad. Just too far for me and I promised myself that I won't scrounge until I get the rounds I have split and stacked.

    NICE SCORE

My boys Mike Lee ported 365 special noodled up most of it. There was a crew at this home spreading top soil so I had to do all the cutting until I got the opportunity to ask to drive though for a quick load.
Newly built house. Insurance probably required the tree removed. It was pretty hollow.

Second load was SCarr ported 394. They wanted me to cut more off the trunk so I obliged. There was also a pretty big shagbark hickory stump they wanted lowered.

Biggest I’ve ever seen on that species. Someone got a lotta good stuff!

And the general scene as I left it.

    And the trunk:

If it were me, I’d start a fire in there to get rid of it. I’m sure they probably aren’t allowed. It was a development.
