This tree fell onto my town community center. They know I'm the only diehard wood guy in town so they asked if I wanted it. I said sure wood 1/2 mile from the house. So I started on it this mourning. Its a willow oak.
Theres still another truck load at least. I am leaving the biggest stuff and brush. They were going to pay a contractor to clean it up anyway all I am doing is saving them money by removing some of it. It hit the building in the back so part of the insurance claim will be cleanup. Thats why I waited to make sure insurance buy saw it. If I had to deal with brush I wouldnt have time after it. Id rater drive the 20 miles to my other spots and cut in the woods than dream l all that brush!!!
For the fellow saw nuts out there the saws are stihl 650 wearing g 20" bar husky 372 wearing 20" bar and an earthquake 4518 with 18" bar and semi chisel chain..aftermarket!!
Good job I wood have been on it in a minit. I don't know much about a willow oak. How do the compare to the white (is my favorite) red and chesnut ?
Willow oak is a red oak...not as dense as white oak. Similar to red oak. I need to open up the cover on the stihl ms650 as well as open the side port a bit more . Its loud as all get out. Didnt run it much stock but it does help a good bit. The ms390 with the muffler modd is like night and day. That saw has a total new attitude ...like crazy good performance. Both saws like the fuel even more now!!
Nice being able to assist. Wise leaving some for insurance purposes. I'd also send a thank you to the township board.
Looks like you got a nice load out of both truck and trailer... How's the ol' back after moving those bigger rounds?
I felt it for sure even though I rolled the rounds up the gate. I only had to got a 1/2 mile and no more than like 15-20 month or else I would not attack truck that high...at least without straps
Others get a good bit of heat from wood in town but arent as "dedicated" as I am. They all think I am crazy for the wood I have stacked around and as much as I bring home.
