Oak bench and fire pit

    In another thread I had mentioned a project where I needed a locust log. People inquired what for. Well here is the finished project, bench and new fire pit area.

    I cut the bottom of the oak bench so the base pieces (locust) would fit into it. The fit isn’t as tight as I would have liked and I got frustrated so I used some 8” metal spikes to tighten it up

    Nice. Even though there's some serious weight to it, I'd hate to see someone sit on the very end, and cause it to tip. Having both "legs" secured, would lessen that chance.

    that is beautiful! I've been thinking about adding something like this to the things I sell. I have the perfect oak log down the street that could make 4 benches. Tipping is a concern for me, as they wouldnt be buried in the ground like yours. I need to play around and see if I can make one for myself.
