This is a first, never had free a load dropped at the door step before. Now I understand what you all are saying. It’s pretty cool. Now it’s time to get to work.

Is your dog guarding the pile or getting ready to help? Nice dog!

Yeah it's really nice. Half the work is done already when it's at your house with no work done on your behalf.

    Nice score!

The wood looks good too. I have had tree work drops and decided they weren't worth it. I think you scored!

Congrats on your first. Not a bad looking load! What species are in the mix?

Still some work to do but sure beats getting it home on your own. Especially those big pieces. Looks good.

For the very first time, we had three cords dropped off at our place a cord at a time. It was split but not as small as campinspecter likes it so we re-split it before stacking. Nice to be working close to food, bathroom and warmth when you need it.

I have a couple of tree services that drop wood for me when I need it. In the past has kinda been hit and miss, got some really nice loads and some pretty crappy loads. The nice thing about being 4 years ahead, is I’m not desperate for wood and I have gotten pretty selective. I won’t let them dump anymore unless they send me a picture or I’m home to look at it first. Giving them a 30 pack every time they come has gone a long way towards getting the good stuff. They now know I will shut them off completely if they bring me rotten stuff and twigs. It’s a good deal for everyone saves them a 25 mile round trip to the landfill plus $50 dump fee and they get free beer. I get free wood delivered to my back yard to process when I have time to get to it.

There’s a couple small pieces of oak but the rest is fir.

There’s a mule up there but that thing’s wild as a cootie. Mostly deer and elk keep it trimmed up through winter. The neighbor put a few up there to get them out of the mud for a while. I don’t winter anything but the dog anymore.

Also my concern that they wouldn't be worth it. I'm afraid I would get some giant 5' oak trunks that would take me way longer to deal with than it would be to go get stuff myself off FBMP.
